Tanya English - counselling and coaching
my background

I am a relatively new practitioner – and really enjoying my new career choice.
I have plenty of life experience to bring to the role. I have benefitted from therapy and coaching myself (including around IVF, for traumatic childbirth, coping with a long term health problem, undertaking a major new career role…). I have experience of the joys and difficulties of motherhood, caring roles, disability, family and other relationships.
I originally worked in the arts as a publicist and then moved into the charity sector, gaining significant senior management and board experience – including for charities working in homelessness, human rights and mental health. I understand coping with work pressures.
my clients' backgrounds
I have worked with from clients across the age, race, class, religion, sexuality and gender spectrum.

My Quaker background has influenced my strong belief in the value of all humans, and our ability to live more rewarding lives – whatever our obstacles or background and whomever we love.

"Tanya is an intuitive and intelligent therapist, adept at drawing in a range of therapeutic models and life experiences.." (client AF)
my therapy and coaching training
a unique approach - 'personal consultancy'
I trained in a pioneering course - that uniquely integrates across a number of different counselling theories (Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Existential, Gestalt, Solution Focussed, CBT etc) whilst also adding coaching into the mix. To me adding in coaching is an essential part of the process.
I believe it is still the only course of its type in the country. It is lead by the inspirational Nash Popovic at the University of East London. This innovative course makes me fully trained in integrative counselling and coaching, and a 'Personal Consultant'.
It also means I am a fully registered member of BACP - the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. You are in safe hands!
